Tumble Book Library

Picture
TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks, animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love.  TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music, and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.

Newly Renovated Library Media Center

Picture
After nearly 20 years, the library media center at Marguerite Vann Elementary School has gotten a much needed renovation.  The students at Vann raised over $3,000 through the Box Tops for Education program and the Scholastic Book Fair.  The school also received a $1,500 Partner in Education Grant from Kimberly-Clark (corporate).  Jamille Rogers, the Library Media Specialist, collaborated with Principal - Cherri Wilson & CPSD Maintenance Director - Bruce Harrell to develop the project plan.  This summer the facility was updated with new paint, carpet, light fixtures, furniture, computer work stations, SmartBoard learning center and 51" flat screen TV.

The students at Vann Elementary now have a safe and high-quality school library media center that will provide them with opportunities to become life-long users of literature & technology.  Miss Rogers works hard to train her elementary students on basic computer use, provide them with exposure to all kinds of literature, give them plenty of hands-on opportunities to connect their academic skills to real life situations, and examine their learning experiences to set goals for improvement.

A special Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held at the school on Thursday, August 11th to reveal the newly renovated library media center & updated computer lab to the parents.
